On-call & ongoing support
Your doula is available throughout pregnancy for guidance, support, and questions via phone and a private text group.
On-call begins 10 days before your estimated due date and continues until your baby is born. During this time, we are available 24/7 and ready to come when labour starts.
Backup doula
We will choose a backup doula together, whom you will meet in an online session.
Your backup doula provides extra security in case your primary doula becomes ill, or to step in and provide support during a longer birth.
On-call start meeting
When the on-call period begins, we meet for an online check-in (approx. 1 hour) to come together as a team and prepare as the birth approaches.
Support during birth
When labour begins, you contact us and we stay in ongoing communication via the text group. Together, we decide the right timing for the doula to join you. Most often, we meet you when you are heading to the hospital.
Your doula will then be with you throughout the birth as a calm, attentive, and experienced support person.
We provide continuous physical and emotional support, including guidance in relaxation and breathing, massage, pressure techniques, and natural pain relief.
We also support you in your interactions with the Swedish healthcare system and help bridge communication and language if needed.
The doula also supports your partner, helping them feel calm, included, and confident in their role.
Postnatal session
After the birth, we meet for a postnatal visit in your home. You are invited to share your birth experience from beginning to end, and we reflect together.
We can also offer support with breastfeeding, sleep, and postpartum recovery.
Investment
The price for our Doula Package is 18,000 SEK.
The invoice is usually split into two parts: part one after the first prenatal meeting and part two after the birth.
Wellness allowance (friskvårdsbidrag) can be used, including by your partner. Interest-free payment plans are available.

FAQ
What does a doula do during labour and birth?
During birth, your doula is by your side, offering practical, physical, and emotional support. Together, we create a supportive team around you as you give birth.
We can, for example:
- Guide you into relaxation
- Suggest comfortable and pain-relieving positions
- Provide massage
- Apply pressure to the hips, knees, and sacrum
- Guide you through breathing techniques
- Suggest movements and exercises that create space in the pelvis
- Support natural pain relief methods such as TENS, heat, water, and acupressure
- Support and advocate for you in communication with the healthcare staff
What is the difference between the doula’s and the partner’s role?
The partner and the doula form a support team around you during birth, taking turns and supporting each other throughout the process. We are both there for you, but with different roles.
The partner is always the most important support person. They know you best and are often the closest source of comfort, offering reassurance, closeness, and physical contact.
The doula is an experienced support person who uses knowledge and experience to guide to relaxation, support natural pain relief, advocate for you, and support a calm and positive birth experience.
The doula also supports the partner, helping them feel confident and find their natural way of providing support. When the birthing person feels calmer and experiences more comfort, it also becomes easier for the partner to stay close and offer support.
What happens if labour starts before the on-call period?
If labour starts before the on-call period, we will still come and support you as planned, and nothing else is affected.
We are usually in regular contact, so we often get an early sense that labour may be starting.
How are you received by healthcare staff?
Doulas are now commonly present in maternity wards in Stockholm and are generally welcomed by healthcare staff.
Midwives often express appreciation for the calmer atmosphere in the room and for the fact that our clients are well prepared, which also supports their work.
We always strive to build good relationships and create a calm, coordinated team around you as you give birth.
When is the right time to book a doula?
There is no time that is too early or too late to book doula support. Most people book between around 12 and 32 weeks of pregnancy.
As we have a limited number of spaces, booking earlier usually gives you a better chance of securing availability around your due date.
If there is only a short time left until your due date, we will adapt the package and aim to begin preparations as soon as possible.

You can choose to have your prenatal sessions at home or at Studio Liv in Abrahamsberg.
